Life Story for Josephine Henrietta Vick (Knorr)
Josephine Henrietta Vick (nee Knorr) was born on June 11, 1926, at Kerrobert, Saskatchewan, to Mike and Theresa Knorr. She was the fifth child in a family of ten, which included seven brothers, Phillip, Adam, Louis, Mike, Andy, Frank, and Ben, and two sisters, Theresa and Katherine. She attended school near Major, Saskatchewan, where her parents had a farm. At the age of seven years old, her family moved and rented land at Bolney, Saskatchewan. Their house consisted of two granaries joined together, with an addition made of logs. The boys had one bedroom, and the girls another. The family farm was a mixed farming operation, growing grain, a large garden, and raising cattle, sheep, chickens, and geese.
In the summer of 1946, while working in St. Walburg, she met Jack Vick. They were married on Oct. 21, 1947, in St. Walburg. After a brief period with Jack working in logging camps on Vancouver Island, Jack and Josie moved back to St. Walburg where they took over the Vick family farm. They raised six children on the family farm, and in 1976 they moved into town.
Josephine was predeceased by her loving family members: her husband, Jack (2011); her son, Dwayne and her daughter-in-law Cheryl, (2014); and two beautiful grandchildren Aaron Powers (1987), and Shane Vick (2015); she was also predeceased by six of her seven brothers, and one sister.
Josephine proudly leaves a large and loving family to mourn her passing: her three sons, Bruce (Shirley) Vick, Brian (Dorothy) Vick, and Dan (Ana Yadira Guitierrez) Vick; her two daughters, Debby (Stuart) Gammell, Kathy Powers, and Dave Powers; her eleven grandchildren, Josh (Kandel) Vick, Hugh (Shara-Lynne) Vick, Jesse (Rebecca) Gammell, Melissa (Danny) McNab, Carla (Darren) Morin, Tyler (Leah) Powers, Brandon Powers, Alison Vick, Sarah Vick, Michelle Vick, and Darren Vick; her sixteen great-grandchildren, Alexander, Katherine, LaShawn, Shelby, Ryker, Sydney, Meah, Morgan, McKenna, Carter, Dezmin, Ronan, Jordan, Jayden, Ryder, and Avery; her siblings, Frank (Phyllis) Knorr, and sister, Theresa Wagner.
