The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Shirley Jack can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Life Story for Shirley Ann Jack (Jimmy)

Shirley was born in Thunderchild Reserve to John and Christina Jimmy. She was raised in Thunderchild and went to the dayschool in the community. She then went on to high school in North Battleford where she graduated from the Convent of the Child Jesus (C.O.C.J.). Shirley worked for a number of years in social development/finance for the Thunderchild Band. She was an outgoing, kind and compassionate woman. Shirley was always willing to help where and when needed. She liked to laugh; even when she was sick she found humor and laughter. Her idol was Elvis Presley, she had posters, and pictures of him and enjoyed his songs. Shirley was loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed by all. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in her heart.

She leaves to mourn: her common-law partner, Eugene Albert (Peanuts); her children, Gail (Lee), Leon (Denise), Fenton (Robyn), Christopher, Curtis (Michele), Leroy, Janaya, Tyrone (Allison) and Kelley (Ryan); thirty-eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; her sisters, Annie, Dorothy, Melvina and Debbie; her brothers, Henry, Rodney, Edgar, and Warren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Shirley was predeceased by: her parents, John and Christina Jimmy; her maternal grandparents, Elise Dufresne and Edgar Slater; her paternal grandparents, David and Maryann Jimmy; her sisters, Susan Wapass, Gladys Moccasin, Margaret Jimmy, Marjorie Chickness, and Linda Thunderchild; and her brothers, George (Joseph) Jimmy, and Carl (in infancy).
